How to Choose the Right Bathing Suit
Summer isn’t over yet and there is still time to find that perfect bathing suit to flatter your body type. One size or style definitely doesn’t fit all when it comes to swimwear. What works for your best friend might not work for you – even if you think her swimsuit is ideal. It’s better to wear something that fits your body properly and flatters your body type than wear something just because you like the way it looks on the hanger.
Here is how to choose the right bathing suit for you: find your body type below and follow these helpful tips for securing the best swimsuits for your body type!
Apple: Classic apple shapes, with a fuller top and middle, should look for swimsuits that give the illusion of a flatter tummy. Look for a one-piece bathing suit that supports your chest and separates it from your stomach. Ruching is a good option for apple shapes and some suits even offer tummy control.
Pear: Pear shapes are larger on the bottom half than on the top, so finding a suit that fits both halves can sometimes be problematic. Bikinis are now often sold as “separates”, meaning that you can purchase different sizes for your top and bottom. Look for a brand that allows you to do this and stay away from string bikini bottoms, opting rather for a fold over top or thicker waistband to avoid unsightly bulges.
Straight/Boyish: Boyish shapes should look for swimwear that creates the illusion of more curves. Pump up the volume on your petite body with padding or ruffles.
Hourglass: Hourglass shapes are considered “curvy” with a small waist. The top half and bottom half are relatively proportioned on an hourglass figure, and your small waist is signature to this look. Look for higher cut bottoms that will lengthen your leg and make sure your top has enough support to show off that tiny waist!
