Character Wear: Lisbeth Salander Style

Who knew that the badass heroine of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” could turn into such a style icon? Lisbeth Salander would never be caught dead in dresses and stilettos. Her style is more leather and spikes, and there have even been clothing and makeup lines launched to help imitate her unique brand of fashion.

Trish Summerville, the costume designer from the movie, created a line of clothing for H&M. The clothing in the collection is all affordably priced and features what is described as an urban-chic look. The 30 pieces include distressed pants, edgy tank tops, leather pants and leather jackets. The infamous black hoodie worn by Lisbeth Salander is also replicated as part of the line.

Even without shopping at H&M, you can still dress like rebel girl Lisbeth Salander. Just choose plenty of black pieces that show off your inner toughness. Consider an awesome pair of motorcycle boots from Shoes.com or a long black overcoat from Overland.com. Givenchy even offers a high-end line of Lisbeth Salander-inspired pieces.

Lisbeth Salander style extends way beyond her urban clothing. If you’re not into piercings and tattoos, you can always go for faux versions. And bleaching your eyebrows blond is a fashion risk that even the boldest of us may not go for. As far as makeup, Urban Decay’s line of bold lipsticks and nail colors can make you stand out in the crowd.
