The Best New York Fashion Week Trends
The best part of Fashion Week, for those of us who don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on the latest fashions, is taking notice of the trends that we will undoubtedly want to emulate come next season. Now that New York Fashion Week is over, we can recap the (amazing) shows and look forward to Spring 2013! From Marc Jacobs to The Row, here are some of the best New York Fashion Week trends we saw showing up on multiple runways, sure to be huge for next spring! All images courtesy of Vogue.com.
Trend: The Nineties
Attention everyone, the Nineties are back! One of our favorite New York Fashion Week trends was a hint towards our favorite grunge era and its heroine Courtney Love. The Peter Som show (shown above) had babydoll tanks, floral maxi shorts, and chunky heels perfect for a young audience who never experienced the trends the first time around.
Trend: Exotic Prints & Patterns
Travel can be a wonderful thing, but who has the time? Rather than schlepping across the world, look the part with foreign-inspired patterns from Marrakech and India, draped over dresses and skirts. Marchesa (shown above) had the trend in spades, and we can’t wait to see how other designers transform it for daywear.
Trend: Mod Op-Art Styles
One of the hottest New York Fashion Week trends we noticed was a modern take on swingin’ Sixties Op-art patterns. Lots of black and white in cool and interesting shapes was seen on the runways, most notably at Marc Jacobs (shown above), and if the master is feeling it, so are we!
Trend: Bright Accessories
Of course accessories are bright for spring, you say! Yes, while it is no surprise, the accessories for Spring 2013 are simple and striking. Those at Michael Kors (seen above) were totally unique, from see-through glasses to retro-tinged belts. Matching your accessories to your clothes is officially cool again.
Trend: Long Layers
Even though Spring is a time for the light and airy, layers are HUGE for 2013. Nearly every show, including The Row (shown above) showed long shirts over long skirts, or jackets over sweaters. The look is all about showing off your figure without showing it and we love the feminine flair!
