Quick Fix: Halloween Party Outfit Solutions
Are you spooked by the inevitable Halloween party invitations soon to make their way onto your calendar? Do you freak out about what to wear for fear that your attempt to look sultry-scary just looks plain terrifying? If so, then you’ve come to the right place. This post is designed to help those of us who struggle choosing party dresses at the best of times, to create some of the simplest and most effective costumes for you to make for a Halloween party.
The Freaky Baby Doll
The main items you’ll need for this costume are:
- Pink coloured / teddy bear patterned pyjamas / all-in-one suit
- A ragged teddy bear and / or doll
- A dummy
Plait your hair and paint your face with rosy red cheeks and lashings of mascara – it doesn’t matter if your eye make-up smudges; the more messy and web-like the lashes, the creepier. This look is even scarier if you’re a guy as the rosy red cheeks look so out of place.
The ‘Treat’: Jelly Beans Costume
There are no tricks to this one; it’s simple and effective (although you might find it difficult to sit down…)
You’ll need:
- Light coloured clothing – a white top and trousers or white dress
- Small Balloons
- A pin and some thread.
Blow up your multi coloured balloons (your makeshift jelly beans) and thread some string through the tied section of the balloon, through your clothing – NB it might be easier to do this with the t- shirt/dress over an ironing board, so you don’t thread the two sides of your top /dress together. Cover the item of clothing in balloons and voila!
The Bat Costume
You’ll need:
- A black or dark coloured hooded jumper
- A black or dark coloured umbrella
- Felt
- Safety pins
Remove the handle from the umbrella and cut the umbrella in half (you’ll need a sharp knife so be careful doing this). These will make your bat wings. Use safety pins to attach the half-umbrella to the back of the arms on your hooded jumper.
Cut some ears out of black felt and use a needle and thread, or safety pins to attach the ears to the hood of the sweatshirt.
If all else fails you can always nip to your local shop and buy a set of vampire teeth and a cape, paint your face white and lips red, and go as Count Dracula…again!
